Austin Gets its First Women-Only Coworking Space

The 21st-century world has changed for good, every country is taking part in women empowerment and their upliftment. Austin, a small city in Texas is playing its part by housing the 1st women only coworking space in the city. Set up by the Refinery which is at the forefront of creating a women-only space that exudes confidence and instils a sense of ownership among the female population.

You can join the exclusive women coworking space coming February 2019, but the membership has already started and various events are being conducted on-site to gather some insights about women’s hopes and desires. The Refinery has conducted various events and shows this past year, just to spread the message and to observe the badass entrepreneurship skills surrounding women.

Notably, they hosted the SXSW 2018 event which is known for its creativity and cultivates a new set of belief in women. The SXSW 2018 was decorated with mind-boggling moments and it has become a catalyst for invigorating human creativity and acts as a strong force to think and work.

The previous experience:

The inside atmosphere of the Refinery was no less than a mesmerizing working space suited for every men and women entrepreneur alike. After a year of working in this industry, they observed a skewness towards young businesswoman taking part actively in the coworking culture and trying to make a name for themselves. This inspired the Hayley Swindell-Wakefield the founder of Refinery to turn the tide and change it into a women-only coworking space.

With this social club and coworking space, Hayley aims to provoke the already established women-only clubs, and bars named The Wing which is operational in New York City, San Francisco and Washington DC.

What’s it’s About?

The refurbished Refinery is not about just another coworking space opening up shop in the town rather the objective is to uplift the women of the city and bring them at par with men. It redefines the definition of startups and invokes the idea of women participating in the process of developing an organization from scratch. At some point, this transition is due to the fact that the number of women entrepreneurs in Texas rose up to 63% in between the years 2007 and 2016.

While working at the refinery you can only imagine the exquisite furniture, the mesmerizing and the photogenic white kitchen which had become the favorite spot for selfie lovers and camera enthusiasts.

Added to this it is a women-only workspace so it is obvious that you will get long social tables for discussion and makeup rooms (they are a must), an updated library and most importantly a pin-drop silence zone for those who are ingresses deep into the game.

The membership will be affordable:

The founder Hayley has ensured that women will be able to get bespoke desks spaces and offices once they open up shop. The major factor will be the price which will be affordable as Hayley wants to inspire innovation and leadership in women. There are monthly and annual plans to choose from and all the other perks will be revealed with time.

Starting from 5th December, The Refinery hosts focus groups every day to be continued till 21st December. This is done to know the nerve of what women want that will help them shape the future community of women coworkers and help every member reach the stage of Self-realization.
