Coworking Isn’t Just A Physical Arrangement Anymore

The norm for working professionals and students 20 years ago is not the same as it is today, and what worked in an office back then didn’t always translate into an academic setting. However, the two separate entities have recently found a common denominator: coworking spaces. As we know, coworking is a physical arrangement where people from different backgrounds share office space to complete their work. There are many advantages to coworking, which is why it’s popular among professionals and students. What’s interesting is that when you look at the benefits of coworking, you’ll see the online environment has adopted the idea. Why? So that its benefits, like social interaction, trickle down to them.
Coworking In The Online Environment
The internet is meant to connect the world, and it has indeed done that over the years. However, online platforms can also be isolating due to their comparative nature. As a fix, the online environment has taken a page from the coworking handbook.
Social Media Collab Houses
Coworking allows for cost savings and convenience through the use of common tangible and intangible aspects, such as infrastructures like utilities and equipment. Creators on social media platforms, particularly TikTok, have also found that working in the same environment as others has financial advantages. There’s also convenience because working alongside each other means they can use things they have in common to gain a bigger platform, such as the common demographics of their individual followings. For example, the concept of “collab houses” within the influencer world has become part of the norm. According to YouTuber Sam Sheffer, collab houses let individuals “lift each other up.” Sheffer also said the saying “elevate others to elevate yourself” rings true in the online environment.
YouTube
One area of YouTube that’s grown is fitness and health. Like the coworking community, which can positively influence individuals and encourage them to reach their goals, many find using YouTube to watch fitness videos and tutorials increases their focus and determination while allowing them to feel part of a community.
Coworking offers many benefits, including shared resources and networking. As a result, it’s not surprising that other areas such as the online environment have tried to replicate its advantages.
